Hermes Investment Management has appointed Robert Wall as a partner on its infrastructure team as the sub-sector enjoys intense interest from alternative fund managers.

Based in London, Wall will complement the existing partners and infrastructure team, with responsibility for originating, analysing and executing investments as well as governance of portfolio companies, the company said in a statement. He will also join the infrastructure investment committee and will report to Peter Hofbauer, head of infrastructure for Hermes.

Prior to taking on his new role, Wall was with the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), where he has worked for the past nine years in both Toronto and London. As an early member of the infrastructure investment team at CPPIB, he participated in the rapid development of a significant global infrastructure investment business in a growing and maturing asset class. Earlier in his career, Wall was in civil engineering in the UK and New Zealand.

“Robert’s in-depth industry experience and deep understanding of direct global infrastructure investment will help us continue to serve our clients interests and grow the business,” said Hofbauer in a statement. “He brings significant and highly relevant infrastructure investment experience that will supplement the high calibre of experienced individuals that make up the existing Hermes Infrastructure team”.

Headquartered in London, Hermes manages more than £26 billion on behalf of more than 330 clients across equities, fixed income, alternatives and real estate, with £3.9 billion in infrastructure investments.
