BNP Paribas has appointed Christopher Lane to its global hedge fund relationship management team as head of the Americas. He will be based in New York and report locally to Todd Steinberg, head of equities and derivatives for the Americas, and Kip Testwuide, head of origination and distribution for fixed-income in the Americas.

Lane most recently worked at Merrill Lynch in New York where he was director of institutional sales in the equities division. Prior to that, he spent seven years at Goldman Sachs, also as an institutional salesperson.

Talbot Stark, global head of hedge fund relationship management, said, “He’s a seasoned professional with extensive client relationships. His experience and skill-set is the right fit for us and we’ll continue to add people of this caliber to the hedge fund relationship team globally.”

In addition to Lane’s appointment, Mark Walker, head of hedge fund relationship management, Europe, has been named chief operations officer.
