Malachite Capital Taps Orsay to Head Business Development

Nov 15 2016 | 12:19am ET

Malachite Capital Management has named Sarah Orsay as head of business development.

Orsay has spent her career working with pension funds, endowments and foundations, according to a statement seen by FINalternatives. She started her career at Bankers Trust in 1991 before moving over to Morgan Stanley in derivative sales and then onto Goldman Sachs, where she worked with Malachite co-founder Jake Weinig.

In 2007, Orsay left Wall Street to become CEO of the Michael J. Fox Foundation, an organization working towards a cure for Parkinson’s Disease. Immediately prior to joining Malachite, she was the director of business engagement for The Climate Reality Project, an environmental not-for-profit based in Washington.

Founded in 2013 by former Goldman Sachs colleagues Weinig and Joseph Aiken, Malachite Capital Management is a global, market neutral, equity derivative relative value fund based in New York. The fund seeks to earn long-term, risk-adjusted absolute return by capturing value created from structural inefficiencies and short-term price anomalies in global equity index volatility markets while avoiding exposure to binary macro risk scenarios.
