OppenheimerFunds Launches New UCITS Fund Platform in Global Liquid Alts Push

OppenheimerFunds has debuted a new UCITS-compliant fund platform designed to broaden availability of its investment products to the global investor audience.

The new platform is an Ireland-domiciled SICAV consisting initially of sub-fund versions of the company’s flagship global value, global equity and developing markets equity funds. All three funds have established track records as U.S. vehicles, with UCITS-compliant versions launching last week, according to a company statement. They are managed Randall Dishmon, Rajeev Bhaman and Justin Leverenz, respectively.

Prior to the launch of the new platform, OppenheimerFunds distributed some of its products through an arrangement with London-based Heptagon Capital, according to an article in Citywire.

The three funds are currently passported for sale in the U.K. and Luxembourg, the statement said. A fourth UCITS-compliant fund, based on the Oppenheimer Markets Innovator Fund available in the U.S. since mid-2014, is reportedly awaiting regulatory approval.

"We are pleased to bring some of our most compelling investment strategies to an international audience, to help meet the needs of our evolving client base," said Art Steinmetz, Chairman and CEO of OppenheimerFunds, in the statement.

Founded in 1959, OppenheimerFunds is a unit of MassMutual Financial Group. The company manages more than $219 billion in assets for over 13 million shareholder accounts, including sub-accounts, as of November 30, 2016, across equity, fixed-income, alternative, multi-asset, and revenue-weighted-ETF strategies.
