HarbourVest Partners Announces Series of Executive Promotions

Global private markets investment manager HarbourVest Partners has announced a raft of promotions to close out the year, including three new managing directors and 13 new principals and senior vice presidents. 

These promotions recognize team members whose expertise contributes to the success of HarbourVest and its clients, the company said in a statement. 

Promoted to managing director are Ryan Gunther, Senia Rapisarda, and Kelvin Yap. Gunther focuses on primary investments in U.S. buyout, venture capital, mezzanine, emerging market and distressed debt partnerships, Rapisarda focuses on partnership and direct co-investments in Canada and has helped to expand HarbourVest's local presence there, and Yap concentrates on growth equity and buyout co-investments in Asia Pacific, having transferred from London to HarbourVest’s Hong Kong team in 2009. 

Other promotions are as follows:

  • Greg Ciesielski promoted to principal, London – Greg focuses on global secondary investments purchased through both traditional and more complex transactions. 
  • Shumin Gong promoted to principal, Beijing – Shumin focuses on business development and marketing in addition to evaluating, executing and monitoring primary partnership investments in Asia Pacific, and in China specifically. 
  • Ryan Jones promoted to principal, London – Ryan is involved in all aspects of direct investment activity, including analyzing and monitoring growth equity and buyout portfolio investments. 
  • McComma Grayson promoted to principal, Boston – Mac is member of HarbourVest’s primary partnership team focused on U.S. venture, buyout, credit and real assets investments. 
  • W. Fran Peters promoted to principal, Boston – Fran focuses on coordinating, monitoring and enhancing relationships with new and existing investors and consultants. Dustin Willard promoted to principal, Boston – Dustin focuses on global secondary opportunities, including traditional and complex transactions.
  • David Zug promoted to principal, Boston – David focuses on sourcing, evaluating, and executing growth equity, buyout, and mezzanine transactions. He also played a key role in the expansion of the firm’s operations to Canada and the opening of the Toronto office.
  • Monique Austin promoted to senior vice president, Boston – Monique focuses on fund information, corporate governance, and general legal support for business and operational matters. 
  • Tony Cobuzzi, promoted to senior vice president, Boston – Tony oversees the production of financial reports and statements for HarbourVest funds. Additionally, he leads the development and ongoing management of HarbourVest’s annually issued report on internal controls.  
  • Danielle Green, promoted to senior vice president, Boston – Danielle serves as HarbourVest’s Chief Compliance Officer and is responsible for the evolution and maintenance of the Firm’s global compliance program.

In addition, the firm also promoted five executives to vice presidents, four to senior associate, one to senior portfolio associate and one to associate. 

“HarbourVest’s greatest assets are the people who walk in the front door each morning,” said Peter Wilson, managing director, HarbourVest. “This latest round of promotions - at all levels - showcases [our] continued investment in our team and recognizes their focus on using specialized expertise to drive results for our clients. 

Founded in 1982 and headquartered in Boston, HarbourVest manages more than $40 billion in primary fund investments, secondary investments, and direct co-investments in co-mingled funds or separately managed accounts. The company closed its latest fund in early November, raising $4.77 billion for its Dover Street IX secondaries fund.
