EFG Asset Management Launches New Multi-Manager UCITS Fund

EFG Asset Management has launched a new UCITS-compliant multi-manager fund aimed at allocating capital across a range of uncorrelated relative-value hedge funds.

The new fund, named the All Weather UCITS fund, is domiciled in Luxembourg within EFG’s New Capital funds family, according to an article in Citywire. It was reportedly soft-launched in November 2016 and is managed by Jerome Berset, who will allocate across hedge funds with uncorrelated relative value strategies and less emphasis on directional, long/short ones.

Investors are increasingly looking for real hedge strategies for risk-off environments, Berset said to Citywire, while the end of the 20-year interest rate cycle means they can no longer could on bonds to hedge the long-equity exposure in a multi-asset portfolio.

Berset will focus on experienced hedge funds managers with strong teams and broad research capabilities, the article said.

Founded in 1994, EFG Asset Management is the asset management arm of EFG International, a global private banking group headquartered in Zürich. The firm manages more than $12 billion in traditional equity and fixed income portfolios, multi-asset and alternatives strategies, and its proprietary New Capital fund range.
