Arsenal Capital Partners has named former Milliken & Company CEO Joseph Salley as an operating partner working within the firm’s specialty industrials group.

Salley held a variety of positions during his 20-year career with Milliken & Company, a diversified industrial concern, culminating in his appointment as CEP in 2008. Milliken has 5,000+ patents worldwide, 35+ manufacturing facilities globally, and more than 7,000 associates, according to a statement. During his tenure, Salley overhauled Milliken’s business portfolio, and executed numerous acquisitions, integrations, business re-positionings and exits.

“We are delighted to have Joe Salley join our Specialty Industrials Group, which is the leading private equity franchise in specialty chemicals and specialty materials, and specializes in building high-growth, technology-rich middle market companies,” said Terry Mullen, Arsenal co-founder and partner. “Joe’s addition augments our industrials domain and technical expertise and positions us to continue our long-term leadership in the industry.

“After an extensive search process, we are extremely pleased to have Joe Salley join our team,” added partner John Televantos. “Joe is an exceptional CEO who brings the full spectrum of leadership and managerial capabilities and experiences to his role at Arsenal.  Joe has proven strategic acumen, excellent technical and domain expertise in chemicals and materials, and a track record creating value in businesses.”

Arsenal completed fundraising for its latest fund, Arsenal Capital Fund IV, in October, hitting its hard cap of $1.3 billion of committed capital. The company’s preceding fund raised $875 million in 2012.

Founded in 2000 and based in New York, Arsenal Capital Partners invests in lower middle-market specialty industrial and healthcare companies. Since inception, Arsenal has raised institutional equity investment funds totaling $2.975 billion, has made 34 platform investments and completed 21 realizations since inception.
