European private equity manager Idinvest Partners has opened an office in the German city of Frankfurt and added new members of its executive team.

The new office is part of Idinvest’s international expansion and its desire to offer dedicated in-country support able to assist the growth of its portfolio companies, the company said in a statement. As both a former subsidiary of the Allianz Group and through the financing of German companies, Idinvest’s new Frankfurt office further maintains the company’s strong relationship with the German market.

Idinvest typically supports German companies via private debt financing, both senior and subordinate. In tandem with the new office, which will be led by Florian Zimmerman, Idinvest has added three German nationals to its private debt team, the company said.

“Brexit has accelerated the fact that Frankfurt is becoming one of the most active financial centers of continental Europe,” said Christophe Bavière, president of Idinvest Partners, in the statement. “This new step is fundamental to the international development of Idinvest, and our 20 years of experience across various European markets, including Germany, has reinforced our desire to be present in this region."

Idinvest Partners has developed a strong expertise in private debt, with more than €3 billion of the firm’s €7.1 billion of assets now managed in private debt funds. The company has been in the private debt market since 2007, executing more than 100 transactions within the European middle market through dedicated mezzanine/unitranche and leveraged loan funds.

Based in Paris and founded as AGF Private Equity in 1997, Idinvest was formerly part of Allianz until 2010 when it joined forces with IDI as an independent firm. The company manages more than €7 billion in assets deployed into mid-market European primary, secondary and mezzanine investments.
