Global alternative asset manager Carlyle Group has retained former Honeywell International vice chairman Roger Fradin as a consulting operating executive for the company's industrial and transportation team.

As an operating executive, Fradin will provide strategic guidance to Carlyle professionals throughout the investment process and advise portfolio company executives on management, operations and growth strategies. He joins a distinct group of 30 veteran business executives who assist Carlyle in this manner, the company said, and will continue devoting time to various roles outside of the firm.

Fradin was vice chairman of Honeywell from 2014 until 2017, where he was responsible for advancing the company’s merger and acquisition strategy and completed 80+ acquisitions cumulatively worth more than $9 billion. Beforehand, Fradin served as President and CEO of Honeywell Automation and Controls Solutions for ten years, during which the division doubled in size.  Fradin joined Honeywell in 2000 when it acquired Pittway Corporation, where he was president and CEO of the Security and Fire Solutions segment.

“Roger has deep experience across several industrial subsectors and a proven track record as a business leader,” said Brian Bernasek, head of the global industrial & transportation group at Carlyle. “His perspectives will be particularly valuable as we evaluate new investment opportunities and work to improve the operating performance of our portfolio companies.”

Founded in 1987, Carlyle is a global alternative asset manager with $158 billion of assets under management across 113 funds and 168 fund of funds vehicles as of December 31, 2016. The firm invests across four segments – Corporate Private Equity, Real Assets, Global Market Strategies and Investment Solutions – in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, North America and South America.
