Debevoise & Plimpton Taps Volhard For Private Funds Regulatory Role

Global alternative investment law firm Debevoise & Plimpton has named private funds regulatory specialist Patricia Volhard as a partner in its Frankfurt and London offices.

Volhard brings market leading regulatory capabilities for private funds in continental Europe, the company said in a statement. Her practice is focused on advising private funds on a range of regulatory issues and she will join the firm in March.

Volhard joins Debevoise from Pöllath + Partners, where she was a partner in Frankfurt. The appointment is her second stint at Debevoise, having been an associate for the firm in Paris and Frankfurt. Volhard is admitted to practice in Germany and France, and speaks fluent German, French and English.

Ms. Volhard’s hire comes at a time of significant change for private funds in Europe, the company added. The sector has undergone fundamental shifts in the wake of regulatory hurdles such as AIFMD as well as the UK’s June 2016 decision to leave the EU.

“Patricia is one of Europe’s most sought after private funds lawyers,” said Michael Blair, presiding partner at Debevoise, in the statement. “She has emerged as a highly trusted advisor at a time when trusted advice has been a difference maker for many funds. For any law firm, it is important to remain at the cutting edge in areas where your clients need it most. That is exactly what Patricia will help us do.”

Headquartered in New York, Debevoise & Plimpton is a worldwide law firm with a robust reputation in legal matters involving private equity firms, hedge funds and other alternative and traditional asset managers.
