Global asset manager Aviva Investors has named former KPMG partner Darryl Murphy and former Pension Protection Fund executive Sarah Wall as head of infrastructure debt and senior portfolio manager, respectively, on the company’s alternative income solutions team.

The duo will be based in London and report to Barry Fowler, managing director of alternative income solutions, according to a statement.

In his new role, Murphy will lead a team of 20 infrastructure debt professionals and will oversee origination, structuring, execution and asset management of infrastructure debt deals. He joins the company from KPMG, where he was a U.K. corporate finance partner and head of deal advisory for the power and utilities sector. Before joining KPMG in 2009, he was head of European project finance for HSBC.

Wall will begin her new role next month, the statement said. She will be a portfolio manager for the recently launched Aviva Investors Alternative Income Solutions Fund. Wall comes to Aviva from London-based Pension Protection Fund, where she was an illiquid credit portfolio manager focusing on infrastructure debt including renewable energy, rolling stock, roads, hospitals and student housing. Beforehand, she was head of investment risk at the Pension Insurance Corporation.

“I’m delighted to welcome Darryl and Sarah to Aviva Investors,” said Fowler in the statement. “They bring a combined 39 years of infrastructure knowledge and expertise, which will enhance our capabilities as we continue to expand our Alternative Income Solutions platform.”

Aviva Investors is the global asset management business of financial services and insurance giant Aviva Plc. The unit operates in 15 countries in Asia Pacific, Europe, North America and the United Kingdom, and has some £345 billion in assets under management. The alternative income solutions platform has £21 billion in AUM spanning infrastructure debt, unlevered infrastructure, private corporate debt, real estate finance, real estate long income and structured finance.
