Institutional consulting company Cambridge Associates has announced the appointment of Jeff Blazek as a chief investment officer in the company’s pension practice.

In his new role, he will also be a member of the company’s Hedge Fund Ratings and Advisory Committee and will lead the firm’s presence in New York City, according to a statement.

This is Blazek’s second stint at Cambridge, having previously served as a managing director in the company’s Dallas, Texas office from 2008 to 2014, where he was one of the original architects of the firm’s pension practice model and its proprietary pension risk management framework.

Blazek brings 15 years’ of experience working with the investment offices of large pension plans in the U.S., as well as experience advising and managing endowment and foundation investment portfolio, the company said. He was most recently managing director at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he was part of the senior leadership team in the office of investments responsible for global equities in both public and private investment portfolios as well as fixed income. He also held senior oversight for hedge funds and asset allocation. Beforehand, Blazek was a portfolio manager for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jeff back to Cambridge Associates,” says Sona Menon, Managing Director and Head of North American Pensions at Cambridge Associates, in the statement. “Jeff will help us serve our growing client base, including those plan sponsors and other institutional asset pools that are increasingly turning to us for discretionary portfolio management. Jeff is joining a great roster of CIOs at Cambridge Associates who work across our discretionary global client base.”
