Private equity company Warburg Pincus has appointed former Willis Group CEO Dominic Casserley as a senior advisor in its financial services group.

In this capacity, Casserley will support Warburg Pincus in identifying and evaluating new investment opportunities in the financial services sector, including in the banking and insurance industries, the company said in a statement.

Casserley became CEO of Willis Group Holdings in 2013, leading the global risk advisory, reinsurance broking, and benefits firm to an $18 billion merger with rival Towers Watson in January of last year. Previously, he spent 30 years at McKinsey & Company, where he held several senior leadership positions in New York, Hong Kong and London, and had a consulting focus on financial services and risk management.

“We are pleased to welcome Dominic as a senior advisor in our financial services group,” said Michael Martin, managing director of Warburg Pincus. “His extensive track record leading and advising companies in financial services, risk management and insurance will be valuable to the team as we identify new investments across our global network and support our portfolio company management teams.”

Founded in 1966, New York-based Warburg Pincus is private equity firm with more than $44 billion in assets under management in a diversified active portfolio of more than 140 investments. Since inception, Warburg Pincus has raised 16 private equity funds, which have invested more than $60 billion in over 780 companies in more than 40 countries.
