Institutional alternative investment manager LGT Capital Partners has completed its purchase of private debt specialist European Capital Fund Management from affiliates of Ares Capital.

The company’s investment funds will continue to be managed by European Capital’s 28-person strong investment team, while the group as a whole will be integrated into LGT as a private debt unit.

The transaction, which was announced in March, was finalized earlier this week, according to an article in Private Debt Investor. Terms were not disclosed, but at the time the deal, was announced, LGT said it included participation as a syndicate investor in two private debt funds managed by European Capital.

Ares took over European Capital, which offers unitranche, mezzanine, second lien, PIK, senior debt and equity co-investments via three funds, when it acquired American Capital in mid-2016.

Headquartered in Pfaeffikon, Switzerland, LGT Capital Partners manages more than $55 billion for institutional investors deployed across wide range of investment programs focusing on private markets, liquid alternatives and multi-asset class solutions.
