Global consulting firm Meketa Investment Group has reportedly won a bid to become the new general investment consultant for the South Carolina Retirement System.

The $29.7 billion pension fund made the decision during the April 27 executive session of its Retirement System Investment Commission, according to an article in Pensions & Investments. The commission had issued a request for proposals last October as incumbent consultant Aon Hewitt’s contract expires at the end of September, the article added.

Founded in 1978 by James Meketa, Meketa Investment Group is an employee-owned, full service investment consulting and advisory firm. As an independent fiduciary, the firm serves institutional investors in discretionary and non-discretionary roles. The firm today consults on more than $400 billion in assets for over 150 clients whose aggregate institutional assets exceed $890 billion.
