U.S.-based ASEAN and frontier Asia markets brokerage specialist Decker & Co. has named former China Construction Bank executive Douglas Morin as managing director of equity capital markets.

Morin joins the firm only a few weeks after Decker announced expanded coverage to China and Japan and strengthened its executive team with three senior hires.

Morin is a 20-year Asia veteran in the equity capital markets field, Decker said in a statement. He was formerly with China Construction Bank International Securities (CCB) and was beforehand a managing director with Bear Stearns, where he spent 11 years on the Hong Kong institutional equity sales desk covering hedge funds and mutual funds investing into Asian equities. He will be based in San Francisco.

“Douglas and I partnered in 2009, bringing together Kim Eng Securities and CCB,” said Mark Decker, founder and CEO of Decker & Co., in the statement. “I have long admired his nose for quality. Douglas is the ideal person to review equity capital opportunities and bring transactions efficiently to our global client base.”

“Capital raising transactions arise from time to time as a direct result of our focus on identifying quality, under-covered companies throughout Asia,” added Decker. “Douglas’ talents and deep experience will enable us to build on our track record and expand our offerings of interesting deals.”

Founded in 2013, Decker & Co. is a leading Asia specialist brokerage based in the U.S. and will soon be the only boutique brokerage covering all of Asia. Its principals have been among the leading experts in Asian markets since the 1990s. The firm’s clearing partner is Cowen Execution Solutions, formerly Convergex Execution Services.

Headquartered in San Francisco, Decker & Co. launched in 2013 with a focus on ASEAN markets, steadily partnering with local brokers to add coverage including Taiwan, China, Frontier Asia, MENA and sub-Saharan Africa. The company actively covers more than 650 companies through 85 research analysts at 13 local broker partners across the region.
