Diversified alternative asset manager BlueMountain Capital Management has named former Kinrose Capital executive Lance Rosen as head of equities as it continues to build out and diversify its equities business.

In his new role, Rosen will lead BlueMountain’s discretionary equity strategies, working closely with the firm’s co-CIOs, investment teams, and director of research Michael Mauboussin. The position is effective July 10, 2017.

Rosen was most recently president and CIO at Kinrose Capital, and previously spent a decade at Perry Capital in a number of roles culminating as head of U.S. equities and member of the executive committee. He began his career at Smith Barney in 1995.

“Lance has a long-term track record of superior and consistent investment performance and brings two decades of industry experience as a portfolio manager, risk manager, and trader across multiple strategies, including US equities and special situations,” said Andrew Feldstein, BlueMountain’s CEO and Co-CIO, in a statement. “Lance’s deep expertise in overseeing multi-strategy portfolios and his outstanding leadership skills will be invaluable to the further development of our equities business.”

New York-based BlueMountain Capital Management was founded in 2003 by former JP Morgan executive Andrew Feldstein and ex-McKinsey senior consultant Stephen Siderow. The company is a multi-strategy absolute return manager with more than $22 billion in AUM deployed across credit, distressed, special situation, equity, structured finance and technical/arbitrage strategies.
