Global investment manager Neuberger Berman has brought aboard China equities specialist Bin Yu and his team of four research analysts as the company extends its investment capabilities in the country.

Yu and his team join Neuberger from investment manager CloudRidge Capital, which Yu founded in 2014. The team, located in Hong Kong and Beijing, will continue to manage their current strategy as a private fund.

The group brings strong local expertise and experience in the China equity markets –A-shares as well as H-shares – and a track record of outperformance, the company said in a statement. Their long-term, high conviction, value oriented investment approach is grounded in fundamental research and looks to capitalize on sustainable trends.

Prior to CloudRidge, Yu spent more than five years with the China Investment Corporation, where he was head of the $10 billion global equity team and a senior portfolio manager co-managing three multi-billion portfolios: equity long short, long-only global equity and equity special situations. Beforehand, he was with Eagle Capital Management in New York for four years, where he helped manage a $7 billion long-only U.S. equity portfolio for institutional investors.

Neuberger Berman was founded in 1939 and manages $271 billion in equities, fixed income, private equity and hedge fund portfolios for institutions and advisors worldwide.
