Uncia Asset Management Unveils New Quant-Based Small Cap UCITS Fund

Jul 28 2017 | 7:27pm ET

Paris-based alternative investment firm Uncia Asset Management has debuted a new systematic UCITS-compliant equity fund that will focus on small-cap stocks.

The new fund, named the Uncia Small Premia Fund, launched on July 12 and has a long/short bias that will capitalize on opportunities across Europe, according to an article in Citywire. The fund positions will be selected entirely via quantitative methods and its portfolio will carry a +40% net long exposure to approximately 30 stocks. Interestingly, short exposure will be accomplished via the large-cap DJ Stoxx Europe 600.

Uncia's Small Premia fund is the first vehicle to be released since the company officially announced a strategic pivot away from “traditional” asset management and towards more quantitative approaches, although it launched a quant-based smart premia fund in August of last year.
