Teza Capital Management Names Gebert To COO, CRO Roles

Misha Malyshev’s quantitative investment manager Teza Capital Management has named former Gresham Investment Management executive Dr. Reinhold Gebert as chief operating officer and chief risk officer.

Gebert most recently held the same positions at $8 billion commodities hedge fund Gresham Investment Management in New York, where he created their dedicated risk management group, initiated their expansion into systematic trading strategies, and re-engineered their middle and back office, the company said in a statement.

Like Teza founder and CEO Malyshev, Gebert holds advanced degrees in both mathematics and theoretical physics, and the two developed their professional and personal relationships while working together as consultants at McKinsey & Company in the early 2000s.

After McKinsey, Gebert joined the investment management division at Lehman Brothers, and then went on to become a managing director at Barclays, leading strategy and business development and running operations.

Malyshev formed Teza Technologies in 2009 after six years as global head of high frequency trading at Citadel. Headquartered in Chicago, Teza began managing outside money in October 2014 in what became quantitative hedge fund manager Teza Capital Management. The company managed nearly $950 million as of June 2017.
