Lightbay Capital Taps Leeney To Lead Business Development

Aug 14 2017 | 6:05pm ET

Lightbay Capital, the private equity company formed earlier last year by former Ares Management executives Nav Rahemtulla and Adam Stein, has named former Gores Group executive David Leeney as managing director and head of business development.

In his new role, Leeney will be responsible for coordinating LightBay’s deal sourcing and relationship management efforts, the company said in a statement.

Leeney brings more than 14 years of business development, origination, and investor relations experience to LightBay. Before coming aboard, he spent ten years at The Gores Group, where he was most recently head of global origination and oversaw business development for all of Gores’ investment vehicles. Previously, he was an investor relations consultant at Taylor Rafferty on a variety of large-cap, cross-border transactions.

Based in Los Angeles, LightBay Capital concentrates primarily on opportunities in the consumer, healthcare, and business services sectors. The firm invests across the capital structure and in all market environments. The company was founded in late 2016 by Rahemtulla and Stein, who were most recently heads of Ares' healthcare and consumer/retail private equity investing, respectively.
