Millennium PM Nainzadeh Said To Prep New Hedge Fund

Aug 25 2017 | 6:35pm ET

Sara Nainzadeh, a portfolio manager for Izzy Englander’s $35 billion hedge fund manager Millennium Management, is reportedly prepping a new fund that will launch in late 2017 or early 2018.

The new fund will be based in New York and is named Centenus Global Management, according to a Business Insider article citing unidentified individuals familiar with the plans. In ancient Rome, a “centenus” referred to a military unit of usually one hundred men.

The new firm will run a separately managed account for Millennium in addition to a commingled fund, the article said. Specifics about strategy or expected AUM at launch were not immediately available.

Nainzadeh joined Millennium in 2004 and became a fundamental equities portfolio manager in 2007. She managed a multisector portfolio including stocks in the transport, utilities, consumer, energy, and industrials sectors.

Former Magnetar and Seven Locks Capital executive Warren Sckolnick is joining the new firm as COO and COO, the article added, as is Nainzadeh’s sister Yasmine, who joins as consumer sector head. Also reportedly coming aboard: former Millennium analysts Greg Reiss as utilities head and Michael Hayes as energy sector head.

Prime brokers for the new fund include Goldman Sachs, UBS and Morgan Stanley, the article continued.
