Healthcare-focused investment manager OrbiMed Advisors has raised $551 million in capital commitments for its third Asia-focused private equity fund.

The new fund, named OrbiMed Asia Partners III, will invest broadly across the Asian healthcare industry and concentrate on growth stage product- and services-oriented companies in China and India, the company said in a statement. It will target investments from $10 million to $75 million per company across 15 to 20 opportunities, although where appropriate, the fund may co-invest with OrbiMed’s global team on substantially larger investments.

OrbiMed’s Shanghai office was opened in 2007, while the company’s Mumbai office was opened in 2008. The firm raised $325 million in September 2014 for its second Asian healthcare fund.

OrbiMed is a healthcare investment firm with more than $14 billion in assets under management. The company invests globally across the healthcare industry, from start-ups to large multinational corporations, utilizing a range of private equity funds, public equity funds, and royalty/credit funds.
