Capital Dynamics Launches Middle-Market Private Credit Business

Global private equity manager Capital Dynamics has unveiled a new asset management platform that will focus exclusively on private credit.

The new Private Credit Asset Management business will reportedly leverage the firm’s extensive fund-of-fund and co-investment general partner relationship network to originate and invest in private debt transactions for mid-market companies owned or controlled by private equity sponsors.

To lead the new unit, Capital Dynamics has also hired industry veterans and former Credit Suisse executives Jens Ernberg and Thomas Hall. The duo will be based in Capital Dynamics’ New York office and will serve on the company’s executive committee, according to a statement.

Prior to joining Capital Dynamics, Ernberg and Hall were responsible for co-founding and running the mid-market direct lending business at Credit Suisse, where they originated more than $2 billion of private debt across more than 50 transactions since 2011.

“We have been thoughtfully considering an expansion into the private credit market for some time, and we are confident that we now have the right team and strategy in place to take full advantage of the opportunities in this growing market,” said Martin Hahn, CEO of Capital Dynamics.

Based in Zug, Switzerland and founded in 1999, Capital Dynamics is an independent asset manager investing in private equity, private credit, clean energy and infrastructure. The company currently has more than $28 billion in assets under management and advisement.
