Global asset servicing specialist MUFG Investor Services has named former Citco Group executive Ben Griffiths as global head of fund financing.

In his new role, Griffiths will lead the fund financing team globally to service clients, including funds of hedge funds, private equity lines of subscription, and FX lines for feeder funds of hedge funds. He will be based in London and report to John Sergides, global head of sales and marketing.

Previously, Griffiths was CEO of Citco Financial Products (CFP), a subsidiary of Citco Group, where he was responsible for lending and FX solutions. He joined Citco in 2005 to help launch CFP, and played an instrumental role in scaling the business. Beforehand, Griffiths was part of the fund linked product teams at both Bank of America and Société Générale.

“Unpredictable market conditions have firms looking more closely at how their investor services provider can be a valuable partner through all circumstances,” said Sergides in the statement. “MUFG can offer our partner firms financing with competitive pricing, which can mean the difference between success and failure.”

MUFG Investor Services is the global asset servicing arm of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, one of the largest banks in the world, and provides a range of solutions including fund administration, middle-office outsourcing, custody, foreign exchange, fund of hedge fund financing, trustee services, securities lending and other banking services to more than 2,400 funds across all investment strategies, asset types and fund structures. MUFG has 90 years of custody experience, 350 years of banking history, has run a global securities lending program for 20 years and has more than $500 billion in AUA.
