Blueprint Capital Advisors has named former Asset Management Finance executive John McAvoy as a partner in the firm.

In his new role, McAvoy will be involved in the execution of all investment activities and responsible for the firm’s strategic investments, Blueprint said in a statement. He will also serve on the Blueprint investment committee.

McAvoy brings more than 30 years of experience in equity and debt capital markets to his new position. Previously, he was president of Asset Management Finance, a subsidiary of Credit Suisse and a market leader in making minority investments in asset managers across a wide range of investment strategies and geographies.

While at AMF, McAvoy led the firm’s focus on alternative investments and also served as a member of the investment committee and board of directors. Under his leadership, AMF bought stakes in six alternative investment managers, including Reservoir Capital Group and Brigade Capital Management.

Beforehand, he was a managing director at Credit Suisse, where he held a number of senior roles for over 17 years, including global head of hedge fund coverage, European head of equity capital markets and global co-head of convertible securities.

“John is a highly-accomplished industry executive with extensive alternative investment management, equity and debt capital markets experience,” said Jacob Walthour Jr., CEO of Blueprint, in the statement. “At Blueprint, we are leveling the economic playing field by structuring investor participation more creatively to best align the interests of our clients with alternative managers. We look forward to leveraging John’s significant transaction expertise to further help our clients improve the results of their alternative portfolios.”

Founded in 2015 and based in New York, Blueprint Capital Advisors is a privately held investment company that sources and structures opportunistic investments for institutional investors. Blueprint’s multi-manager platform provides investors access to funds engaged in a wide range of alternative strategies, including but not limited to private credit, appraisal rights, litigation funding, royalty streams and leasing.
