HarbourVest Names Ex-HSBC PE Head Simmons As Managing Director

Global private markets manager HarbourVest Partners has appointed former HSBC executive and private equity veteran Simon Jennings as a managing director on the company’s distribution team.

In his new role, Jennings will focus on business development with distribution partners in Europe and Asia, HarbourVest said in a statement. He will be based in London.

Jennings brings nearly 30 years of experience to his new position, with extensive capabilities in private equity investment, strategy, business building, client relations and fundraising. Prior to joining HarbourVest, he was the global head of private equity at HSBC responsible for creating, structuring, and accessing private equity investment opportunities for private and institutional clients. Beforehand, he was global head of private equity at UBS Wealth Management, and held previous stints in leadership positions at UBS, Phildrew Ventures, and Hermes Investment Management.

Founded in 1982 and headquartered in Boston, HarbourVest manages more than $45 billion in primary fund investments, secondary investments, and direct co-investments in co-mingled funds or separately managed accounts. The company has committed more than $32 billion to newly-formed funds, completed over $18 billion in secondary purchases, and invested over $7 billion directly in operating companies since inception.
