Nov 30 2017 | 11:03pm ET

Former BCA Research macro strategists Chen Zhao, Tony Boeckh and David Abramson have joined forces to launch a new independent research firm aimed at providing in-depth macroeconomic research and analysis.

The new firm, named Alpine Macro, is based in Montreal, Canada and plans to publish investment research on a weekly and monthly basis as well as providing various special reports, alerts, outlooks and webcasts. It will combine proprietary models and indicators with qualitative analysis in order to understand global capital flows and liquidity trends, according to the company’s website.

Chen, who was most recently co-director of macroeconomic research for Brandywine Global Investment Management, was chief global strategist for BCA, while Boeckh was chairman and editor-in-chief and Abramson chief U.S. strategist.

The new firm comes at time when the provision of research to financial institutions is in flux due to new regulations mandated by Europe’s MiFID II.
