Toronto-based Lightwater Partners Ltd., headed by Man Group veteran David Vickerman, is launching a long/short equity fund focused on mid to large cap opportunities in Canada. The Lightwater Canadian Opportunities Fund aims to take advantage of growing investment opportunities in the country, focusing on returns of 15% to 18% while keeping volatility in the low teens.
The fund plans to launch June 1.
Vickerman was founder, CEO and portfolio manager of Man-Vector, a joint venture with Man Group. He is joined by former GLG manager Ben Griffiths, ex-JP Morgan equity derivatives specialist Darol Ryan, and Jerome Hass, formerly of Epic Capital.
