GLG Partners has hired Galia Velimukhametova as a portfolio manager, working alongside the GLG Credit Fund and Market Neutral Fund portfolio manager, Steve Roth, in the firm’s London office.
Velimukhametova joins GLG from King Street Capital, where she was a managing director and member of the European investment committee responsible for investment selection and portfolio composition of the $15 billion multi-strategy, U.S.-based hedge fund. She also helped established the European office of the fund.
Prior to working at King Street, Velimukhametova was at JPMorgan for almost seven years and spent the latter half of her time there working as a debt equity and capital structure arbitrage trader.
“Her expertise in distressed debt and special situations adds to the depth of the credit team and should prove helpful as we opportunistically deploy capital over the next 18 months,” Emmanuel Roman, co-CEO of GLG, said.
