Nomura Adds Proxima Exec. To New Alpha Team

Nomura Asset Management has added a bond trading team from hedge fund Proxima Alfa Investments, and will launch an alpha-oriented subsidiary.

Rajiv Sobti is joining Nomura Global Alpha, which will offer alpha-oriented fixed-income products to both institutional and retail clients. Sobti, who serves as president and chief investment officer of Proxima Alfa, will be joined by his bond management team at Nomura, and will be named CIO of the new group.

Global Alpha will focus on highly-rated corporate and public bonds, employing a long/short strategy.
