F&C Raises $271M Buyout Fund Of Funds

Jul 7 2008 | 10:51am ET

F&C Asset Management has held a final close at €173 million (US$271 million) for its European-focused mid-market private equity fund of funds, F&C European Capital Partners.

The fund, which attracted support from institutional investors from the U.K., the Netherlands and Germany, will invest in a range of mid-market buy-out and mezzanine funds, as well as directly in p.e. companies from across Europe, according to Hamish Mair, head of the firm's Edinburgh, Scotland-based private equity funds team.

“The credit crunch is lowering prices in the mid-market, but it is still possible for the main investors to arrange debt for buy-outs; this is a good combination from an investor's point of view,” said Mair.

F&C managed £101.8 billion (US$215 billion) in p.e., hedge funds and traditional assets as of the end of March.
