Marathon Boosts Global Equity Unit

New York-based Marathon Asset Management, the $11 billion alternative investment shop, has expanded its global equity business with a pair of industry veterans to the mix.

Anthony Antonucci is joining the firm’s New York office as a managing director and portfolio manager with a focus on the global equity volatility markets. He joins from Bear Stearns, where he was a senior managing director responsible for the U.S. equity derivatives business.

In addition, Michael Barnett joins Marathon as a director and portfolio manager focused on equity investment opportunities within the consumer sector. He was previously an executive director with JPMorgan Chase's proprietary trading and relative value group and managed event-driven and consumer long/short portfolios.

Marathon, which is not linked to the London-based firm of the same name, was founded in 1998.
