Description: Environmental carbon hedge fund is seeking an intelligent, entrepreneurial, hard working and detail oriented person to join a our portfolio team as an investment analyst in the NYC headquarters.

The ideal candidate would be a self-starter who is also a team player and has both the talent and capacity for risk that is necessary to join a new hedge fund in an exciting and developing industry.

The hire would work alongside the portfolio manager/deal originators to structure transactions and model the trajectory of new and developing markets including research and analysis of macro drivers such as supply/demand mismatches, and marginal emission abatement costs versus current market prices. This person will serve as an integral part of the deal team on a quantitative capacity and will have the opportunity to shape his/her job role and the firm as a whole.

The Analyst will be exposed to all aspects of the portfolio management process and will participate in ongoing research projects, investor presentations and ad hoc analysis. Additionally, the Analyst will gain exposure to a wide range of environmental asset classes including Kyoto carbon credits, U.S. emission credits, renewable energy credits, and voluntary carbon credits. Candidate should be ambitious, enthusiastic about implementing new ideas and have an interest in environmental commodities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA or working on CFA
  • 3-5 years experience in the financial industry preferably investment banking in energy or credit securities
  • Strong analytical skills and aptitude
  • Reasonable understanding of cap and trade and carbon project finance strategies is helpful
  • Excellent technical skills: Proficiency in MS applications (advanced level of Excel skills is of utmost importance)
  • Familiarity with Point Carbon and/or New Carbon Finance modeling software is a plus!
  • Experience using simulation software
  • Exceptional time/project management skills; possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Works well in a dynamic and fast paced environment
