Lansdowne, Traxis Register To Trade Indian Shares

A slew of hedge funds were among the 56 foreign institutional investors registering with India’s securities regulator in July.

Landsdowne Partners, Lone Pine Capital and Traxis Partners registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India last month. Fellow hedge funds TPG-Axon Capital and Pacific Alternative Asset Management Co. also registered.

Several private equity funds also joined SEBI’s roles last month: Centaurus Capital and Helios Capital Management registered in July.

SEBI began requiring hedge funds to register in order to trade Indian securities nine months ago.

Among the alternative investments firms registering with SEBI this year are Avenue Asia Capital Management, Caxton Associates, Cheyne Capital Management, Citadel Investment Group, Farallon Capital Management, GAM Fund Management, Highbridge Capital Management and TPG Capital.
