Private equity firm Providence said that Sean Tong, currently a managing director at General Atlantic in Hong Kong, will join the firm as a managing director and will be based in Providence’s Hong Kong office.

“We are excited by the broad range of investment opportunities we see in Asia now and over the long-term in the sectors where we specialize,” said CEO Jonathan Nelson. “We are pleased to welcome Sean to our team in Asia, and look forward to continuing to expand our presence in the region in the years ahead.”

Providence Equity Partners was founded in 1989 and has offices in New York, Los Angeles, London, Hong Kong and New Delhi.
