Global alternative investment firm Investcorp has launched the Investcorp Real Estate Credit Fund, a US$1 billion investment vehicle. The fund acquires whole loans, mezzanine loans, and commercial mortgage-backed securities collateralized by commercial and residential real estate assets throughout the U.S.
A sovereign wealth fund from the Gulf region has committed US$850 million to the vehicle, and Investcorp has committed a further US$150 million.
Mazin Al Khatib, managing director at Investcorp, said the firm sees “strong opportunities for strong returns throughout the U.S. real estate lending markets.”
Investcorp currently manages more than $17 billion in private equity, hedge funds, real estate and technology investments. It is publicly traded on the Bahrain Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange.
