Hong Kong Buyout Shop Closes $950M Fund

Private equity fund of funds shop Asia Alternatives has closed its Asia Alternatives Capital Partners II with US$950 million of committed capital.

Investors in the new fund include Asian, European and U.S. institutional investors such as the California Public Employees' Retirement System and the New York State Common Retirement Fund.

The fund is focused on building a diversified portfolio with an emphasis on local Asian fund managers. Its primary geographic focus will include Greater China, Japan, Korea and India.

Melissa Ma, co-founder of Asia Alternatives, said the firm continues to see a tremendous number of opportunities in the Asian private equity space.

The firm was founded in 2006 by Ma, Laure Wang and Rebecca Xu.
