Dec 18 2008 | 2:57am ET

Prime brokerage risk manager S3 Partners had added the former head of prime brokerage at Citigroup as a managing director.

Thomas Tesauro joined the New York-based firm, which provides portfolio-critical price discovery and best execution for financing services, this week. He is responsible for the collateral management and financing desks.

Tesauro was most recently co-head of global prime finance at Citi. He has also headed U.S. securities lending at Goldman Sachs and helped create Smith Barney’s equity finance business, which included prime brokerage.

“Tom is a great addition to our team and his integrity, experience, market contacts and knowledge will be of great benefit to our clients, both hedge fund managers and investors in the alternative space,” said Bob Sloan of S3. “The world is changing every day and it has never been more important than now to be cognizant of your counterparty relationships and the value and real exposures they bring to your business.”
