AXA Private Equity has joined forces with the Italian industrial company Tozzi Group to invest in Italy’s renewable energy sector.
Their joint venture, TRE & Partners S.p.a., acts as a holding company and includes investments in wind farms, and hydroelectric and solar projects in Italy.
TRE & Partners will consist of Tozzi Group assets—wind farms and hydroelectric projects already in operation, as well as projects currently under development or construction with a total gross capacity above 400MW. AXA Private Equity provides its experience in the infrastructure market, along with a strong international presence and access to extensive business networks.
Tozzi Group will own 55% of TRE & Partners, with AXA Private Equity holding the remainder.
Mathias Burghardt, head of the infrastructure group at AXA Private Equity, said: “The renewable energy sector has a bright future, with strong likelihood of consistent and solid growth over the long term.”
Tozzi produces switchboards, electrical instruments, power plants and other electrical containers and distribution devices. It has only recently diversified into the development of renewable energy projects.
AXA Private Equity currently manages infrastructure investments worth $2 billion worldwide. The firm provides investors with funds across the full range of private equity offerings.
