Cogent Partners has set up a hedge fund advisory business, and hired a Lehman Brothers prime brokerage veteran to lead it.
Pascale Alvanitakis-Guely was named senior advisor of Cogent’s new business, which will initially advise institutional investors on the secondary hedge fund market and illiquid hedge fund assets. The group will also advise on hedge fund restructurings, and will eventually offer corporate finance advisory services.
“There are significant synergies between the private equity and hedge fund institutional investor base,” Brenlen Jinkens, managing director at Cogent, said. “Pascale's expertise and knowledge of the hedge fund industry will allow Cogent to consolidate its position as the global leader in secondary market investment banking across the alternative asset management industry.”
Alvanitakis recently founded his own hedge-fund advisory, Audentis Partners.
