A former portfolio manager at Contrarian Capital Management is readying his own distressed securities hedge fund.
Jason Mudrick has already raised money for the fund and expects to begin trading the eponymous fund this summer, Dow Jones Newswires reports. The Mudrick Distressed Opportunity Fund will trade both distressed stocks and debt, as well as investing in activist situations.
Mudrick managed a distressed hedge fund at Contrarian, returning 46% during the last distressed cycle.
