Behavioral finance expert James Montier has left Société Générale to join a hedge fund.
Montier is joining Grantham Mayo Van Otterloo & Co., Bloomberg News reports. He will remain based in London and will work on GMO’s asset-allocation team.
Montier, who joined SocGen from Dresdner Kleinwort a year and a half ago, has been named the best strategist in the Thomson Extel survey for the last five years. He served as co-head of global strategy at the French bank.
