The $100 Teacher Retirement System of Texas recently hired Thomas Harris as the system’s new chief investment officer.
In his new position, Harris will oversee the investment division of the TRS fund. Harris’s experience includes serving as chief executive officer of Bridgewater Associates, chief investment officer and president of Verizon Investment Management, and chief investment officer and president of GTE Investment Management.
TRS is the sixth largest public pension fund in the United States, serving active and retired Texas public education and higher education employees.
