London-based Impax Asset Management, an AIM-listed investment manager focused on the environmental sector, has appointed John McDonald as head of sales and marketing.
McDonald was previously head of alternative sales and marketing at New Star Asset Management, which he joined in 2004. He has 25 years of experience in financial markets, 17 years of which were spent in investment research analysis and sales, followed by eight years in the sales and marketing of alternative investments.
"Impax has ambitious growth plans and we are delighted that John, with his impeccable credentials in specialist asset management marketing and sales, has joined us,” said Ian Simm, chief executive officer of Impax. "This is a newly created role that will further strengthen the team and partners currently distributing the firm’s long only, private equity and hedge fund strategies."
Impax Asset Management was founded in 1994 and now manages US$1.8 billion across a range of pooled vehicles, segregated accounts and listed funds on behalf of institutional and private investors. Impax is a signatory to the UN Principles of Responsible Investment as well as being a member of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change.
