Tata Capital, the investment bank founded by one of India’s richest families, has hired a leader for its private equity business.
Akhil Awasthi joins the two-year-old firm from Baring Private Equity Partners, where he was a founding member of its India branch, FinanceAsia reports. He is the third major hire for Tata’s p.e. arm, following principals Ardashir Dubash, formerly of Cleartrip and hedge fund Courage Capital, and Bobby Pauly, formerly of the Tata Strategic Management Group.
At Baring, Amit Chander has been tapped to take over from Awasthi.
