Goldman Sachs has named its co-head of U.S. equity sales as its new prime brokerage sales and capital introduction chief.
Dean Backer, a two-decade Goldman veteran, is the first to combine the prime brokerage and cap. intro responsibilities at Goldman. The firm lost its U.S. prime brokerage co-head last year when Paul Germain jumped to Credit Suisse Group.
Backer, a Goldman partner since 2002, is no stranger to Goldman’s prime brokerage business, having served as co-chief operating officer of the firm’s U.S. global securities services unit, which includes prime brokerage.
