Tokyo-headquartered Nikko Asset Management has hired Michael Herring to run the firm’s U.S. operations.
Herring has taken on the dual role of chief financial officer and chief operating officer in the U.S., reporting to Charles Beazley, president of Nikko Asset Management Europe. He will work in the New York office alongside Hiroko Tsujimura, CIO and global head of alternative investments, and Christina Alfandary, head of U.S. marketing and sales.
Herring joins from Bay Harbour Management where he was chief financial officer and head of risk management. Prior to this, he spent eight years at LaBranche & Co.
“Nikko Asset Management’s U.S. operation is an integral part of our international business and we are delighted that someone of Michael’s caliber has decided to come onboard,” said Beazley. “Michael brings with him an invaluable mix of financial and operational experience, which makes him the perfect choice for this crucial role.”
