Halcyon Names Managing Principal To Lead Real Estate Group

Multi-strategy hedge fund firm Halcyon Asset Management has named Kyle Ransford as managing principal. Ransford will establish a new Halcyon platform to invest in real estate opportunities through special-purpose funds.

Ransford has executed over 50 real estate transactions during the last 15 years, most recently as co-founder and general partner of Cardinal Real Estate Investments. He will be leading the fifth investment team to join Halcyon since late 2004, while at the same time continue to serve as a general partner at Cardinal, with which Halcyon has established a strategic relationship.

“Expanding into direct real estate investment is one more step in our firm-wide strategy of evolution and diversification, a strategy we believe is key to producing sustainable alpha for our investors," said John Bader, Halcyon’s co-chairman and chief investment officer.

Halcyon currently manages over $10.4 billion in assets.
