Description: Our exclusive family office/hedge fund client is currently seeking a Controller.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Maintaining and processing the Company’s fiscal records and transactions in an accurate and timely manner, in accordance with Company policies and goals
  • Expected to ensure efficient, secure, integrated financial reporting, and will have accountability for the preparation and accuracy of profit and loss statements and projections, cash flow statements and analysis, budgets, and monitoring the Company’s performance, inclusive of budget to actual variance analysis and detailed explanations
  • Oversee a staff of two, and the primary responsibilities will include the daily preparation of profit and loss statements, overseeing all trading activity and the reconciliation of trades, preparation of performance analysis, preparing financial statements, capital account reports, budgets, and cash flow statements
  • Maintaining the general ledger and will work directly with the Chief Investment Officer in providing detailed and accurate analysis to support the investments
  • Execute trades, as dictated by the Chief Investment Officer
  • Function as the primary liaison to the external accountants
  • Take the lead in researching, selecting and successfully implementing new accounting software best suited for the company’s business, and ensuring a smooth transition from the current system

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in accounting and a minimum of five years of hedge fund experience, preferably a combination of public accounting and a medium to large hedge fund
  • Certified Public Accountant designation (CPA) is mandatory

    Knowledge of investment and partnership accounting and high-net worth taxes is highly preferred and financial product knowledge of equities and derivatives is essential

  • Very computer literate and have demonstrated proficiency with various accounting software, including QuickBooks, and advanced Excel skills; experience with Advent software is a plus
  • Superior leadership and management skills, strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to make presentations and communicate effectively with senior executives, and a poised, professional demeanor and presence

    Highly organized and detail oriented professional with the ability to handle multiple tasks and achieve necessary results in a timely manner

    High integrity, and be a proactive, bright, take-charge individual that possesses a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and effectively in a vibrant, entrepreneurial environment
